The Parody of One Sexy Chick

What is a parody account you may ask?

A parody account is something truly special in any form of media and they have been around for heavens knows how long. One of the newest parody accounts to hit the scene, reared its provocative head (Yes, reared and provocative are very fitting) just over a week ago and has been kicking up a storm in the social media space, Twitter.

Still wondering about “Reared” and “Provocative” are we? Well, quite simply this chick was reared free range and is sharing a whole lot of skin in what can only be described as some sultry poultry poses. That’s right, the bird who has sparked some major buzz is none other than Sexy Chicken, or @NYTChicken if you’re a Twitter head.

It all got started when The New York Times dining editor Pete Wells published an article on Chicken’s Attraction is Truly Skin Deep with a somewhat provocative picture of Sexy Chicken. (As seen above) This bare all photo was spotted by an ever mindful social media user who introduced Sexy Chicken to the web the very next day. When asked about Pete Wells, Sexy Chicken had the following to say “He’s a God in the poultry world”

Sexy Chicken opened the floor to the world with the following Tweet and what a reaction she received.

These witty and humorous Tweets and replies have captured the character of Sexy Chicken perfectly, this being said, it is no wonder this buxom bird is making waves as the latest popular parody account.

Red bull Manny Mania Finals

June has been a crazy month with a qualifier every weekend for the Manny Mania finals on Sunday in Kempton Park. We’ve been crossing the country with the Red Bull team hitting up Stellenbosch, Jeffreys Bay and Umhlanga, finding qualifiers to send to Johannesburg for the final. Tomorrow it’s gonna be the [R]evolution park in Festival Mall for the last qualifier before the big final on Sunday.

The level of skating has been phenomenal, but what’s been really amazing has been the turnout and support. Despite being so different from any other skate event, Manny Mania gets a lot of attention from skaters, which is awesome. It’s gonna be cool watching how this event grows from year to year.

If you’re not able to get down to the location this weekend follow the whole thing on Twitter, just look for the #MannyManiaZA hashtag. We’ll be broadcasting pics, comments and vids the whole weekend. Come Sunday afternoon we’ll know who is gonna be heading to New York to compete in the global amateur final.

Yup! The big news is that iPads are available in South Africa as of today from iStores, Deon Wired and Incredible Connection. And the better news is that they’re actually quite reasonably priced compared to international prices. Not cheaper of course. NEVER cheaper!! But still not over-priced like so may other electronics goods in the Rainbow Nation. Go get yours now… We’re going to.

When my very good friend and wonderfully wonderful cousin Hannah posted a link on my facebook wall I was at first intrigued, then interested, then I chuckled and now I am pretty damn impressed. A friend of hers, a Mr Freddie Norton, has set himself a challenge… he needs to get to Australia for his best friend’s wedding but has no mula for the flight. As far as I know he doesn’t have a yacht he can sail there, a bicycle’s out of the question (too many oceans), and from what I can make out he doesn’t have the shoulders of an around-the-world swimmer… so he is left with only one option… the power of Social Media. This is our kind of guy. He wants to see how many friends of friends of friends of friends, who are all connected via social media networks, will help him out with a donation towards his plane ticket down under. Digg is Re-born

Remember Digg? it was at one point the most popular content sharing platforms on the interweb but kinda spiraled off the board, a combination of people getting bored with the slagging and the Trolling, while Facebook started dominating with the Like function and everyone just Tweeted whatever they found. Well they haven’t quit yet, and have taken some time to revamp their offering and try find a niche in the world of social content.

Time will tell if they’ve pulled it off, but it’s worth going and checking them out, regardless of whether you have used them before or not. Customisable feeds and links with bothe Facebook and Twitter have made their service a very useful platform.
