It’s funny how good conversations can run away from you… On Friday night Jord and I headed out with Fee (Jord’s substantially better half) and a few of Fee’s professional dancer friends. The girls were being paid to dance at a club that night, so   we tagged along to lend moral support to both them and the bar staff… The evening passed in a blur that involved a human mirror ball, a girl doing tricks on a rope suspended from the ceiling, flames, several tequilas and a horde of glow sticks…
At around 1am we all decided to head home, but Jord and I figured that one more drink before bed sounded reasonable, and as our conversation over said drink progressed we solved 90% of the world’s problems (including global warming, war, terrorism and the magnetic attraction of Greek men to Speedos). It was at about the time that we’d moved on to teenage pregnancies (which Jord was adamant was largely my fault) that we became aware of the sky above us growing rapidly lighter… After what alcoholics refer to as “a moment of clarity”, we realised that approximately four and half hours of conversation was a logical explanation for the sun now rising.

The natural response to the start of a new day was to phone our friends to see who was going surfing, and for some reason very few of them were ecstatic to hear from the two of us. Knobs. So with nobody keen for a dawnie, we crawled into our beds and dreamed of the new utopian world we’d created in just under five hours. It was a very productive night.
