IT AND WEB SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Managing Director / Financial Director the main responsibilities of the role include the following:
1. IT Infrastructure / Hardware and Software
In conjunction with our IT service provider, you will be responsible for the following:
- Managing day-to-day IT infrastructure
- Monitoring networking equipment and servers
- Overseeing troubleshooting for system errors
- Ensuring security for web users’ accounts and information
- Providing help desk support for network issues and responding to requests for IT support
- Evaluating connectivity issues, equipment, and software
- Setting up equipment for new users
- Performing data backups
- Installing and updating network system improvements as needed
- Keeping an inventory of equipment, software, and licenses
2. Web Administration / Support and Basic Web development
Web Project Management and Support – In conjunction with our external partners and internally with our Account Managers and Clients:
- Plan and implement web development projects to ensure that quality proposals encompassing various options are offered, road mapping of processes and project scope to deliver against client requirements
- Provide website support and management services as required
- Maintain the Gorilla website
Website Maintenance may include:
- Updating and maintaining content (mostly more technical items i.e. videos, terms and conditions, sliders)
- Refreshing copy and creative elements, adding new products for Brand sites on global CMSs (Sitecore, WordPress, AEM and Drupal)
- Troubleshooting issues on brand sites and working with external suppliers/clients to resolve.
This may include:
- Analyzing and understanding IT capability and the best way of developing systems
- Gathering website metrics and analyzing traffic data
- Developing new websites, back-end and front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Javascript, PHP, MySQL)
- Tag implementation (Google analytics)
- SEO analysis and implementation
- Site Architecture
- Server, DNS, Domain management, Ticketing systems
- Training Account Management and SM teams on content publishing, client processes
- UX Architecture and Management including:
- Consulting with the design team from a technical perspective for Mockups etc
- Drafting wireframes for in-house development projects
3. Project Management
A key part of the role is project planning and management of delivery, which includes but is not limited to:
- Briefing external suppliers
- Scoping projects
- Drafting project timelines
- Managing 3rd party suppliers to ensure that their services are optimized for the client
- Managing and implementing mandated feature rollouts on brand websites according to Unilever Global standards
- Submitting Privacy Impact Assessments on behalf of the AM team.
- Moving projects toward becoming POPI compliant
Qualifications
- Formal technical / IT Degree / Diploma or equivalent
- Qualification / Certification in Web Design would be advantageous
Skills / Experience
As we are looking for a well-rounded individual for this hybrid role, a combination of the following skills / experience is required:
- A keen interest in and solid knowledge of IT technology, architecture and systems as well as web development and maintenance.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in IT support as well as the management of web development and support projects, including scoping and management of Web projects
- Experience in Web Design and/or Web Development will be advantageous
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript will be advantageous
- Knowledge of PHP and MySQL will be advantageous
- Web server and domain administration
- Website analytics and reporting
- Sound Interpersonal and Project management skills
